(James Ross\/AAP PHOTOS)<\/p>\n<p>Adam Scott is set to renew his Australian Open rivalry with Rory McIlroy after confirming he&#8217;ll tee up in both the national championship and the Australian PGA..<\/p>\n<p>Loyal to his home tour throughout his long career, former world No.1 Scott will seek to win the Joe Kirkwood Cup for a third time when the Australian PGA returns to Sydney at The Lakes from November 26-29.<\/p>\n<p>A week later he&#8217;ll join marquee signing McIlroy at Kingston Heath in Melbourne when he chases a second Australian Open title &#8211; and possibly also some sweet revenge on the Northern Irishman.<\/p>\n<p>    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/e48af270-bdee-4f73-9c33-4a8738556ad6.jpg\" alt=\"scott\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"\/><br \/>\n    A veteran of more than 20 Australian Opens, Adam Scott remains a huge drawcard on home soil. (James Ross\/AAP PHOTOS)<\/p>\n<p>McIlroy famously denied Scott at the 2013 Australian Open, when the Australian was at the peak of his powers, having won his historic Masters title in April.<\/p>\n<p>Scott had put himself on the brink of the coveted Australian triple crown as he took a four-shot lead into the Open final round after winning the Australian PGA and Masters.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a painful memory for Scott and his legion of home fans that he bogeyed the final hole while McIlroy birdied to win by a shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/cc15a91f-6cfa-4c9b-8dd1-7bc890a6f82c.jpg\" alt=\"ddd\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\"\/><br \/>\n    Rory McIlroy got the better of Adam Scott at the 2013 Australian Open at Royal Sydney. (Paul Miller\/AAP PHOTOS)<\/p>\n<p>There would be some nice symmetry if 46-year-old Scott were to turn the tables at Kingston Heath this summer as McIlroy is himself coming off a Masters triumph &#8211; his second consecutive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always loved playing the Australian Open,\u201d said 2009 champion Scott. \u201cIt has so much incredible history and is a tournament every Australian golfer holds in such high regard. It\u2019s a title we all want to win.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKingston Heath is a special place and will be an amazing challenge.
