What Makes the Ping i240 Irons Different? The Ping i240 irons stand out through smart weight redistribution\u2014a lighter badge and insert save weight that\u2019s moved to the perimeter for higher MOI and lower CG, making them Ping\u2019s highest-launching player iron. <\/p>\n They maintain clean cavity-back looks while delivering game-improvement forgiveness.<\/p>\n Smart weight redistribution:<\/p>\n Lighter badge and insert save weight. The Look<\/p>\n Shorter blade length than the i230s. Thin topline. Perfect proportions.<\/p>\n They frame the ball beautifully and look hittable through the bag.<\/p>\n How They Perform<\/p>\n Launch: High with plenty of carry.<\/p>\n Mishits: Still get airborne and hold their line. No harsh feedback or offline shots.<\/p>\n Feel: Solid and slightly soft on pure strikes. Ranks among the best I\u2019ve tested.<\/p>\n Long Irons Work For You<\/p>\n Most player long irons are mui difficult for me to hit \u2013 so I don\u2019t even try if I\u2019m not testing.<\/p>\n The i240s aren\u2019t. I didn\u2019t knock down pins, but I got them airborne on a highish trajectory and in the general direction of my target.<\/p>\n Not something I can say often from a low handicap long iron.<\/p>\n Three Loft Options <\/p>\n Ping gives you real choices here. 7-iron loft comparison:<\/p>\n Power Spec (31.5\u00b0) \u2013 Jacked lofts for maximum distance. About 2.5\u00b0 stronger than standard. Compete with player distance \/ game improvement iron yardages.<\/p>\n Standard (33\u00b0) \u2013 Traditional lofts \u2013 the set I tested. (My everyday 7-iron has 34\u00b0 of loft.) Carried ~175 yards when I hit it well. Best balance of distance and control.<\/p>\n Retro (35\u00b0) \u2013 Weaker lofts for trajectory control. 1\u00b0 weaker than what I call standard. <\/p>\n Bottom line: Low handicaps wanting high launch, ample forgiveness, and workability should give them a look.<\/p>\n How Do Ping i240 Irons Perform?<\/p>\n The Ping i240 irons excel in all key categories:<\/p>\n Launch: High with plenty of carry, even in long irons. CategoryGradeBag Appeal4Distance4.5Sound & Feel4Launch & Flight5Forgiveness5Value4<\/p>\n Bag Appeal:\u00a0(4)\u00a0The head shape and profile do it for me. Clubheads aren\u2019t elongated like the i230s<\/a>. Look great behind the ball. Refined, but never intimidating.<\/p>\n Not the flashiest. Not the prettiest. But, attractive. <\/p>\n Sound & Feel: (4) Great sound and feel. Up there with the best, but not the best. Solid and slightly soft. Never harsh on any of my mishits. <\/p>\n I\u2019m used to a stone-like feel with Ping low handicap irons. Not so with the i240s. (or the i230s mentioned above)<\/p>\n Forgiveness: (5) Tons for a player iron. Some loss of distance on mishits, but my ball never squirted offline or did anything disastrous. <\/p>\n Distance: (4.5) This could easily be a 5. As mentioned earlier, the i240s I played have more traditional lofts \u2013 not jacked. You can get jacked lofts (Power Spec) or weaker lofts (Retro). <\/p>\n Launch & Flight:\u00a0(5)\u00a0They go high, which I prefer. You get no ballooning or loss of distance. I\u2019ll bring down launch if I need to. <\/p>\n Wallet Damage: (4)\u00a0~$200\/club. Which, I feel, must be required pricing for premium irons these days. Cosmetics are nice, but that head frames the ball sooo well.<\/p>\n Love it.<\/p>\n The i240s look player without being intimidating in the mid and long irons. The topline and sole strike a great balance between thick and thin so they\u2019ll appeal to better players\u2019 eyes.<\/p>\n First range session, I hit them well right away. They gave me a pleasing \u201cclick\u201d on impact. Not harsh or hollow. Solid and kinda soft. Not the best, but not far from it.<\/p>\n They remind me of the i230s I tried back in 2022.<\/p>\n They launch high with a lot of carry and whatever shape you can work. For me, slight pushes, pulls, and the occasional tiny draw, of which I\u2019m a fan.<\/p>\n I got through the entire bag, even the long irons I normally avoid.<\/p>\n They want to go high. Which is not my experience with most long irons.<\/p>\n I didn\u2019t hit many flush, but I did hit a few. Even my less-than-flush shots got up nicely and kept their line.<\/p>\n I consider long irons \u201carea fire\u201d weapons. I don\u2019t practice with them enough to consider knocking down pins (or greens). I want to be in the general area I\u2019m aiming. The i240 long irons do this well.<\/p>\n Through the bag, same story. Hit them solid and they sing. High, far, straight.<\/p>\n My misses were largely pulls and pushes. My typical misses. Still, these were around the green.<\/p>\n All-in-all, a veeery satisfying set to play. Gorgeous. Similar performance to the i240s. I launched the i240s higher. Could be I\u2019m in better form now and have been working on swing changes.<\/p>\n Callaway Apex Ai200s<\/a> \u2013 (Player distance irons) Stronger lofts than the i240s I tested means more distance.<\/p>\n One of my favorites of 2025. Superb performance \u2013 launch, distance, forgiveness, workability, and great from the rough.
