Adam Scott has called for the PGA Tour to be fair with any players who decide to leave LIV Golf this winter and look to make a return. <\/p>\n

The future of LIV Golf looks set to dominate the headlines over the coming months. While an agreement with a new investor is in place, it does appear that the league has a number of hurdles to clear before they can look forward to the 2027 season. <\/p>\n

It seems inevitable that some players will leave LIV after their final event of the season this week. <\/p>\n

Adam Scott reflects on the penalties returning LIV Golf players should face<\/p>\n

LIV are reportedly resigned to losing Jon Rahm<\/a>. And the Spaniard will almost certainly not be the only player to walk away, should he indeed decide to move on. <\/p>\n

What will likely come into players\u2019 thinking is the terms offered by the PGA Tour<\/a>. Some will hope that they are presented with a deal similar to what Brooks Koepka<\/a> agreed to before his return earlier this year. <\/p>\n

And someone who backs the idea of making sure that pathway remains open is Adam Scott<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Speaking to the media ahead of the BMW Championship, the Australian dismissed the notion of punishing those who decided to make the move to LIV. <\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I mean, it\u2019s firstly up to what happens on their side of things. Whether there\u2019s LIV going on, whether they\u2019re playing or not playing. And, you know, I think we have seen there is a pathway for guys. Brooks had an opportunity and Patrick Reed looks like he\u2019s going to take his opportunity through the DP World Tour. So I think there will be opportunities to reintegrate, if guys choose to not participate in LIV going forward,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI think it needs to be fair. I mean, it\u2019s a complicated question to answer. The PGA Tour needs to protect its own membership, but I think the PGA Tour also knows that there needs to be pathways, so it will be fair.\u201d<\/p>\n

The PGA Tour no longer needs to worry about the threat of LIV Golf<\/p>\n

There was good reason for the PGA Tour to be firm when it came to Koepka\u2019s return. <\/p>\n

While it was a massive blow for LIV Golf to lose the five-time major champion, the league could still be considered a threat, particularly when Jon Rahm<\/a>, Bryson DeChambeau<\/a>, and Cam Smith all snubbed the chance to follow Koepka. <\/p>\n

In truth, it appears that LIV can no longer be considered a genuine threat to the PGA Tour. <\/p>\n

So while it is important for many PGA Tour players to see those who jumped ship punished in some way, Brian Rolapp probably does not need to worry about his decision acting as a deterrent. <\/p>\n

It would not be a good look if any LIV players \u2013 particularly those the PGA Tour does not miss \u2013 were able to walk back without facing some sort of significant penalty. <\/p>\n

But there will also be plenty who agree with Adam Scott and feel that the time has come to be reasonable. <\/p>\n
