Reigning U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark<\/a> will take a one-shot lead into the weekend at the BMW Championship, playing his first two rounds at 12 under par.<\/p>\n He did so without making a single bogey in either round, the first time in his PGA Tour career he\u2019s gone bogey-free in back-to-back rounds.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been a nice really nice boring golf, which is kind of always the dream that you play, so it\u2019s been good,\u201d Clark said. \u201cI said to everyone, if I continue to hit fairways, I think I can continue to do that with my play. Hopefully I keep that going.\u201d<\/p>\n After carding five birdies on his final six holes for a 6-under 64 Thursday, Clark followed it up with another impressive ball-striking performance Friday. Entering the week ranked 31st\u00a0in the FedEx Cup standings, Woodland has felt the support of the St. Louis crowd with many fans of his alma mater Kansas University in attendance.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI feel very comfortable,\u201d Woodland said. \u201cIt\u2019s nice being close to home. It\u2019s nice having so much support out here. The fans have been amazing. I\u2019m definitely feeding off that energy for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n Celebrating his 36th\u00a0birthday Friday, Spaun fired a 4-under 66 to sit two shots back of the lead. After struggling with inconsistency on the greens in 2026, Spaun returned to the LAB putter he won the U.S. Open with this week, and, so far, it\u2019s proving to be the right decision.<\/p>\n Through 36 holes, Spaun ranks third in the field with 3.882 strokes gained putting while making 114 feet of putts.<\/p>\n \u201cSome people call it honeymoon phase and stuff, but this one\u2019s been around for a while and has seen some really cool things,\u201d Spaun said. \u201cSo, it\u2019s nice to get back into it and feel like the work that I\u2019ve been doing with my stroke is paying its dividends with this new putter or with my, you know, old new putter. I feel comfortable with it because I\u2019ve had so much success with it.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n After a slow start Thursday positioned him near the bottom of the leaderboard, Scottie Scheffler<\/a> responded with a 5-under 65 in his second round, carding five birdies on his back nine to finish the day tied for 25th.<\/p>\n
