Wyndham Clark and Scottie Scheffler seem to be the two frontrunners right now in the Player of the Year race.<\/p>\n

With just one tournament left to play, Clark and Scheffler know that a win at East Lake will almost certainly secure the PGA Tour Player of the Year award.<\/p>\n

The six-time PGA Tour winner has three wins to his name so far this season, including a US Open title, while the world number one has won twice, but has also recorded 12 top-5 finishes in 19 starts.<\/p>\n

Wyndham Clark<\/a> and Scottie Scheffler<\/a> are undoubtedly the two leading candidates to win the Player of the Year award.<\/p>\n

Cameron Young cannot be ruled out either.<\/p>\n

Rory McIlroy admitted last week that the race between Clark and Scheffler is a very close one<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, Brandel Chamblee<\/a> believes the race for the Player of the Year award is about as clear-cut as it could be.<\/p>\n

Brandel Chamblee says Scottie Scheffler should win Player of the Year over Wyndham Clark<\/p>\n

Chamblee took to his official X<\/a> account on Monday to break down exactly why Scheffler has been far and away the best player on the PGA Tour in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cWyndham Clark\u2019s win at BMW seems to have enlivened the POY talk,\u201c he wrote.<\/p>\n

Chamblee then went on to list six reasons why Scottie Scheffler has \u2018objectively\u2019 been the PGA Tour\u2019s best player this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince it is a vote of the players, some subjectivity will creep into the vote, but there are several objective ways to define who has had the best year on the PGA Tour in 2026,\u201c he explained.<\/p>\n

He then listed all six reasons why he believes the world number one has been on another level to everyone else.<\/p>\n

1) Scoring Average (adjusted for course and strength of field) \u2013 Scheffler leads with 68.654 almost 7\/10ths of a stroke better than 2nd place McIlroy.<\/p>\n

2) Scoring Average (actual, no adjustments made, so favors those who play easier courses) \u2013 Scheffler leads with 67.96, more than one stroke better than Jake Knapp\u2019s 68.98.<\/p>\n

3) Strokes Gained Total \u2013 Scheffler leads with 2.263 almost 8\/10ths of a stroke better than Matt Fitzpatrick. <\/p>\n

4) FedEx Cup points \u2013 Scheffler has 4,986, some 1500 points more than Fitzpatrick.<\/p>\n

5) World Ranking Points for 2026 \u2013 Scheffler has gained 468.64040, some 166 points more than Cameron Young in 2026 and 155 more than Wyndham Clark.<\/p>\n

6) Money Scheffler has won \u2013 $20,937,535, some $6.5 million more than Cameron Young.<\/p>\n

Objectively, it is not much of a conversation as to who has had the best year in 2026 on the PGA Tour.<\/p>\n

Wyndham Clark has outperformed Scheffler in the most important category<\/p>\n

Of course, Chamblee has left off two key \u2018objective\u2019 ways to define who\u2019s been the best player this season.<\/p>\n

Clark has won a major this year, something that Scheffler has not managed.<\/p>\n

He also has one more victory to his name than the world number one.<\/p>\n

As many players have said recently, it really does depend what you value more.<\/p>\n

Some players will vote for Clark because they value his amount of wins including a major championship more.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, others will opt for Scheffler due to his astonishing consistency.<\/p>\n

In my personal opinion, Wyndham Clark is leading the race ahead of Scottie Scheffler right now.<\/p>\n

However, Scheffler winning at East Lake this week could change things in a heartbeat. It\u2019s also worth noting that a Cam Young victory could see him win the Player of the Year award as well.<\/p>\n

It is all shaping up very nicely ahead of the final event of the season.<\/p>\n
