Ella Wynyard regained the senior women\u2019s crown with a 5 and 4 defeat of Toni Rutene in their 27-hole final.<\/p>\n
Cheryl Te Rito beat Val Grace by default in the intermediate final, and Penny Rutene beat Marg Tuapawa 3 and 2 over 18 holes for the junior title.<\/p>\n

Terry Reeves, pictured earlier this year, regained the Waikohu senior men’s club championship crown last weekend, beating brother Richard in the final.<\/p>\n

A cricketing rivalry will be re-enacted on the Park fairways in the club championships final day this weekend.<\/p>\n
Brad Reynolds, representing the Pirates Cricket Club, and Ian Loffler, from the OBR stable, will lock horns in the senior men\u2019s final over 36 holes.<\/p>\n
Both plan to wear their team shirts, although Loffler joked he might struggle to find one that still fits.<\/p>\n
Both made short work of their semi-final opponents last Sunday.<\/p>\n
Reynolds, the 2019 senior champ, won four of the five holes played on the back nine to beat John Collier jnr 6 and 4.<\/p>\n
Loffler, who was knocked out of the Poverty Bay senior quarter-finals the day before, said he \u201cdid enough\u201d in challenging windy conditions to defeat top qualifier Zane Boyle, also on the 14th.<\/p>\n
Kurei Collier and Shaun Pahina will decide the intermediate championship. Collier ejected Duane Mauheni 2 and 1; Pahina repelled James Witika 3 and 2.<\/p>\n
The junior final pits Heath Tupara against Dave Rameka after Tupara defeated Damian Pilitati and Rameka beat Ed Pirini. Both matches ended on the 17th.<\/p>\n
Poverty Bay<\/p>\n
Anaru Reedy has a long and impressive list of achievements on his golfing CV.<\/p>\n
But there\u2019s one credential he\u2019d dearly love to add to it … senior men\u2019s club champion.<\/p>\n
Reedy is two wins away from that after the semi-finalists were sorted for the 2026 champs on Saturday.<\/p>\n
And none of the four has won the title before.<\/p>\n
Reedy faces Dan Collier in one semi while No 1 seed Matt Henwood and Craig Palmer clash in the other.<\/p>\n
The four know each other\u2019s games well. Reedy and Collier\u2019s names are in gold on the Electrinet Park senior honours board. Henwood and Palmer play together regularly. The only curve balls thrown will be draws or fades.<\/p>\n
Henwood had to work hardest to advance from Saturday\u2019s quarter-finals, beating fellow Poverty Bay\/Park dual member Ian Loffler on the 18th.<\/p>\n
Hayden Keast\u2019s vow for vengeance after losing to Palmer in the Tair\u0101whiti men\u2019s interclub semi-finals earlier in the year was quashed, Palmer winning 3 and 2.<\/p>\n
Tony Akroyd has won virtually every major honour in Poverty Bay-East Coast\/Tair\u0101whiti golf, but he will have to wait at least another year for Awapuni Links senior glory, going down 4 and 3 to Reedy.<\/p>\n
Collier, a six-time senior champ at the Park, beat two-time PB senior champ Simon Jeune 3 and 2.<\/p>\n
Gisborne Boys\u2019 High Year 13 student Jordyn Haley showed character and talent to come from 3-down after four holes and beat No 1 seed Alex Meban 2 and 1 in their intermediate quarter-final.<\/p>\n
Glen Udall knocked out Chris Taewa 3 and 2 to set up a semi with left-hander Haley, Vance Richardson beat Jon Jenner 1-up in their semi, and Ross Chalmers turned the 13th-15th holes into the Bermuda Triangle for men\u2019s club captain Peter Hakiwai in a 4 and 3 win.<\/p>\n
Gray Clapham ousted No 1 junior seed Kit Goldsmith on the 18th and was joined in the last four by Nigel Jones, Cary Hensley and Duncan Bush.<\/p>\n
Reedy was involved in what had to be a history-making incident on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Reedy drove the 294-metre par 4 14th hole, his ball ending about 2\u00bdm away from the flagstick. Lee \u201cPikey\u201d Hewson, playing against Reedy in a Sunday School four-ball match, proceeded to sink a birdie putt from off the green, meaning Reedy had to get his eagle attempt to tie the hole as he was giving Hewson a stroke. He did … an eagle for a half.<\/p>\n
The performance of the day, however, came from Stefan Andreassen – a superb even-par 72-6-66, for 42 points, including a two.<\/p>\n
Cliff Poole shot his age, 84, in the veterans\u2019 Stableford on Tuesday won by Jon Jenner with 43 points.<\/p>\n
The women\u2019s play last week turned out to be an all-the-way senior club championship 36-hole matchplay final.<\/p>\n
Reigning champion Rochelle Taewa led 2-up after 18 holes, and it was all-square with Megan Allen after 27. <\/p>\n
