{"id":56411,"date":"2026-08-26T12:34:10","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T12:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/56411\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T12:34:10","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T12:34:10","slug":"no-current-plans-for-liv-golf-stars-to-return-says-pga-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/56411\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018No current plans\u2019 for LIV Golf stars to return, says PGA chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The PGA currently has no plans to offer LIV Golf stars like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm a pathway back from the struggling breakaway tour, chief executive officer Brian Rolapp said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2022, LIV caused shockwaves in the golf world as it spent billions of dollars luring top players away from the traditional PGA, but its survival is now deeply uncetain.<\/p>\n<p>Having lost their Saudi investors, LIV organizers have promised a slimmed-down \u201c2.0\u201d version next year with new investors, but several key players have been linked with exits.<\/p>\n<p>While the PGA Tour offered a temporary path back for some LIV players &#8212;\u00a0five-time major winner Brooks Koepka in January took advantage, paying financial penalties &#8212; no repeats are planned, said Rolapp.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently there\u2019s no current plans for Returning Member Program like you saw earlier this year,\u201d he said, ahead of this week\u2019s season-ending Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>The PGA has banned LIV players from its events, insisting any player wishing to return must first entirely cut ties with LIV, and Rolapp told Tuesday\u2019s press conference that \u201crules matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ALSO READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/sportstar.thehindu.com\/golf\/liv-golf-uncertain-future-investing-john-rahm-season-finale\/article71383373.ece\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rahm, LIV players face uncertain future after season finale at Indy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccountability and discipline are essential to any organization, and certainly for the integrity of the TOUR and for the game,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Rolapp said it was impossible to speculate on if and how other LIV players could one day return to the PGA because \u201cI don\u2019t know the future of LIV.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been consistent. Anyone who\u2019s interested in coming to the PGA TOUR needs to demonstrate that they are relieved of their contractual commitments or any tail obligations they might have in that legacy model,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrooks certainly did that, and until then, we weren\u2019t really able to consider anything seriously.
