In it, Good Good co-founder Garrett Clark tackles a woman who dared reach for his driver, stands over her, and says, \u201cDo not touch my new driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/awfulannouncing.com\/golf\/good-good-deletes-controversial-callaway-golf-ad.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">After swift and intense backlash<\/a>, the ad was deleted, but not before several people <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Skulledwedge\/status\/2090959176491057537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">preserved it on the internet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe posted a video to our channels that ultimately depicted actions that are not aligned with our values as a brand,\u201d Good Good Golf, a YouTube phenomenon-turned brand, said in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/goodgood_golf\/status\/2091243669055574303?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">an official statement posted Saturday<\/a>. \u201cWe have since taken that content down, and sincerely apologize. Good Good has always stood for making the game of golf more inclusive to all, and we will continue to ensure that is our mission moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Callaway Golf CEO Chip Brewer and Good Good CEO Matt Kendrick also released separate statements, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/cmo-today\/good-good-golf-and-callaway-apologize-for-scary-ad-826702ba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Those statements did not stop the avalanche. <a href=\"https:\/\/awfulannouncing.com\/golf\/pga-tour-brian-rolapp-disappointed-good-good-callaway-ad.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp condemned<\/a> the ad and Good Good\u2019s \u201cdisappointing\u201d and \u201cdefensive\u201d response. <a href=\"https:\/\/awfulannouncing.com\/golf\/channel-postpones-big-break-good-callaway-ad-controversy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Golf Channel postponed the premiere<\/a> of its\u00a0Big Break x Good Good\u00a0reality show. Dick\u2019s Sporting Goods and Galaxy Golf <a href=\"https:\/\/frontofficesports.com\/golf-galaxy-dicks-pull-good-good-merchandise-amid-ad-controversy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">reportedly pulled Good Good merchandise<\/a> from stores.<\/p>\n<p>So, on Wednesday night, Garrett Clark posted an eight-minute apology and explanation to X (formerly Twitter).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"zxx\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mpFFRvUedE\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/mpFFRvUedE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Garrett Clark (@gm__golf) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/gm__golf\/status\/2092759034533212412?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">August 26, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI want to first start by saying I personally want to apologize for playing the role in this skit, in this ad, at the magnitude that I did,\u201d Clark said. \u201cAnd then, on Good Good\u2019s behalf, on [the] Good Good marketing team\u2019s behalf, I wanted to say an apology as well because this is not at all what we stand for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way that this ad was received is not how Good Good is, and it\u2019s not what we stand for. I want everyone to know that. I do not support DV [domestic violence] or abuse or any of that of any kind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From there, Clark explained how the ad materialized. He said that the Good Good marketing team conceptualized the idea \u201cto create or do a spinoff of <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/obsession-review-1236747795\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the movie\u00a0Obsession<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The full Good Good driver video was actually 60 seconds long, and it seems like it was meant to be some sort of horror-movie spoof? It\u2019s still viewable in some posts. (Here\u2019s most of it:) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UBhUmKBQZY\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/UBhUmKBQZY<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Stina Sternberg (@StinaSternberg) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StinaSternberg\/status\/2091709564752122118?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">August 24, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cGarrett is going to be obsessed with his driver, and anybody who touches Garrett\u2019s driver will become possessed with the obsession of the driver,\u201d Clark said of the original ad pitch. \u201cLooking back, super dumb ad concept. Terrible ad in general. Not the greatest idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark clarified that he \u201cdidn\u2019t actually tackle Alexis\u201d on set and played a behind-the-scenes clip showing him avoiding contact with her. \u201cI know most people probably knew that it was a complete skit and that I didn\u2019t actually tackle a woman,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I want to say that first. I never would, and I didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark walked through more behind-the-scenes footage and shared what happened while shooting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce I watched it back and it got posted, my skin was crawling. I was cringing,\u201d Clark said, noting, \u201cI thought it was the worst ad known to man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clark moved on to assert that \u201cthe hate that this ad and this skit received was [\u2026] very justified.\u201d He reemphasized that the last thing he wants is for people to associate Good Good Golf with domestic violence and abuse.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">There is a real chance Good Good does not survive this.<\/p>\n<p>Unthinkable a week ago. He asked to direct all backlash toward Good Good Golf, not her. Then, he finished by acknowledging \u201cGood Good messed up by promoting a very poor taste ad\u201d and trying to spin this catastrophe forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood Good has had a mission since day one to grow the game of golf, and not just within the male side of golf,\u201d Clark said. \u201cThere have been a lot of points that have been made that I believe are actually very, very valid points. I feel like this video has almost spurred important conversations that need to be had. [\u2026] Golf has historically and is a big male sport, and we have wanted to change that by including women in all of our content and pushing our women\u2019s side of the game in hopes to grow the game of golf.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully, you guys can forgive Good Good as well as myself for being apart of it,\u201d Clark added. \u201cHopefully, we can move on and grow the women\u2019s side of golf because that is one of our huge, huge goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t<script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Last week, Good Good Golf released an ad spot for its co-branded Callaway driver.
