\n\tScottie Scheffler<\/a> won the Tour Championship on Sunday to earn $10 million in prize money, pushing his career PGA Tour prize money to $130.4 million and ahead of Tiger Woods<\/a> ($121 million), who had held the No. 1 spot since 2000.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt was his second Tour Championship and FedEx Cup title in three years and his third tournament win of the year. Scheffler secured a fifth straight year atop the money list, with $30.9 million, and he will almost certainly be chosen as the PGA Tour Player of the Year for a fifth straight year.<\/p>\n

\n\tScheffler addressed the idea of passing Tiger during his Wednesday press conference at East Lake Golf<\/a> Club in Atlanta. \u201cYou\u2019re kind \u200bof comparing apples and oranges,\u201d Scheffler said, alluding to inflation in prize money over the last quarter century. \u201cBut I think a lot of success we\u2019ve had out here, especially when you look \u200bat it from a financial perspective, Tiger has a lot to do with that. Like I said, it\u2019s apples and \u2060oranges. The reason our purses are so large today is because of the influence and impact that Tiger had on the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tScheffler added that he does not consider this a Tiger record being broken, but he is the closest thing the PGA Tour has seen to Woods, who turned pro in 1996 and was the all-time money leader a mere three-and-a-half years later\u2014Tiger topped Greg Norman\u2019s $12.9 million in early 2000. Woods held the career money title for 26 years, despite barely playing the past five years while prize money soared.<\/p>\n

\n\tScheffler, who turned 30 in June, turned pro in 2018 and earned his Tour card in 2020. He already has 22 PGA Tour wins, including four majors, and he made the top 10 in more than half of his 169 starts. Woods\u2019 career includes 82 PGA Tour wins, tied with Sam Snead for most all time, and 15 majors, second behind the 18 by Jack Nicklaus.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe world No. 1 player for 172 straight weeks, Scheffler trails only Woods, who had streaks of 281 weeks and 264 weeks. Scheffler\u2019s current point total in the world rankings is nearly twice as much as Rory McIlroy<\/a>\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe official prize money rankings do not include bonuses tied to the FedEx Cup Playoffs or the since-discontinued Comcast Business Tour Top 10. Scheffler has already guaranteed himself $23 million in bonuses this year under the revamped FedEx bonus structure. Before 2026, he made $69 million in career bonuses from the FedEx and Comcast programs.<\/p>\n

\n\tMcIlroy finished tied for fourth and is also on the verge of passing Woods on the official PGA Tour prize money list at $119.7 million. Next up are Phil Mickelson ($96.7 million), Justin Rose ($79.4 million), Dustin Johnson ($76 million) and Justin Thomas ($74.6 million).<\/p>\n

\n\tScheffler\u2019s dominance has made him a marketing star with an estimated $32 million off the course last year from sponsors, such as Nike, TaylorMade, Rolex and Huntington Bank. He ranked No. 16 in Sportico\u2019s 2025 list of highest-paid athletes<\/a> at $82.9 million from prize money, bonuses and endorsements.
