The Highland Park product needed $608,505 to catch Woods on the list. Scheffler earned $10 million with a first-place finish in the Tour Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Woods has earned $120,999,166 throughout his PGA Tour career. He\u00a0held the top spot on the Tour&#8217;s\u00a0career earnings list since his runner-up finish at Torrey Pines on Feb. 13, 2000.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Tour Championship had a $40 million purse. Scheffler earned $10 million as the first-place finisher, while Viktor Hovland earned $5 million in second place and Ryan Gerard earned $3,705,000 in third.<\/p>\n<p>Once adjusted for inflation, Woods still holds a sizable advantage over Scheffler in career PGA Tour earnings. Woods\u2019 career earnings amount to about $207 million in today\u2019s dollars, compared with $141 million for\u00a0Scheffler.<\/p>\n<p>Prize money began climbing rapidly with the Woods&#8217; rise and his immense popularity, then surged again with the arrival of\u00a0LIV Golf.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a look at how the prize money has escalated at one of the PGA&#8217;s biggest events.\u00a0Woods has won four PGA Championships, while Scheffler has won one.
