Jack Nicklaus has lauded Scottie Scheffler on social media after his victory at the Tour Championship and revealed what he told himself during the world number one\u2019s final round at East Lake. <\/p>\n

Scheffler is now a two-time FedEx Cup champion after the 30-year-old managed to catch Viktor Hovland over the course of Sunday in Atlanta. <\/p>\n

In fact, Scheffler was six shots better than the Norwegian during the final round to win by three at East Lake. <\/p>\n

It was a particularly satisfying win for Scheffler<\/a> given that his previous FedEx Cup victory came in the starting strokes era. <\/p>\n

He would have finished second to Collin Morikawa in 2024 had every player started at level par and shot exactly the same score. <\/p>\n

But there were no doubts about his latest victory, with Jack Nicklaus<\/a> among those clearly not at all surprised to see Scheffler emerge victorious. <\/p>\n

Taking to Instagram<\/a>, Nicklaus explained that he was confident that the four-time major champion would get the job done. <\/p>\n

He wrote: \u2018As I watched yesterday\u2019s\u00a0@tourchampionship, and saw\u00a0@scottie.scheffler\u00a0come down the stretch, I said to myself, \u201cI fully expect him to win.\u201d And he did.<\/p>\n

The 2026 season saw Scottie Scheffler make his most threatening statement yet<\/p>\n

There is an argument that Scheffler did an even better job of proving his greatness in 2026 than he had done in any other year in his career. <\/p>\n

Of course, the frightening amount of victories across 2024 and 2025 told its own story. But there have been numerous players who have had incredible runs over the years before falling away. <\/p>\n

This was supposed to be a disappointing year for Scheffler. And yet, he still managed to win three times and finish in the top five on 13 occasions. <\/p>\n

He did not have his A game for much of the year. Scheffler still finished inside the top four at three of the four majors, while his worst result came at the PGA Championship as he finished tied for 14th. <\/p>\n

It is truly scary to think about what could happen next if this indeed was an underwhelming season for Scheffler. <\/p>\n
