Scottie Scheffler was the world number one golfer when LIV Golf burst onto the scene back in June 2022.<\/p>\n

Numerous big names moved to LIV Golf from the PGA Tour, including the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and later, Jon Rahm.<\/p>\n

However, Scheffler remained on the PGA Tour, along with arguably professional golf\u2019s biggest star, Rory McIlroy.<\/p>\n

Ever since then, Scottie Scheffler<\/a> has been the dominant figure in the professional game, with 22 PGA Tour<\/a> wins to his name, including four major championships.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, those who joined LIV Golf<\/a> have struggled to compete in the majors, aside from Brooks Koepka\u2019s win at the PGA Championship in 2023 and DeChambeau\u2019s US Open victory in 2024.<\/p>\n

All of the big stars who moved to the league were paid handsomely, but Scheffler\u2019s performances and earnings over the past few years have dwarfed the likes of Rahm and DeChambeau\u2019s.<\/p>\n

For instance, Scheffler has collected around $60 million more than Rahm in on-course earnings<\/a> since the Spaniard joined LIV Golf.<\/p>\n

Scheffler banked $30,937,525 on the golf course in 2026<\/a>, and with bonuses, he ended up earning north of $53million on the PGA Tour this year.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old is relentless in his pursuit of greatness, and the money he wins along the way is just a very nice bonus.<\/p>\n

Scheffler is now sitting at the top of the career PGA Tour money list<\/a>, but it\u2019s clear to see that there are many more motivating factors for the world number one than money.<\/p>\n

Scott made an appearance on The Gravy & The Sleeze Podcast<\/a> to discuss Scheffler\u2019s win at the Tour Championship on Sunday.<\/p>\n

He responded when asked whether his boss is motivated by money at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, the guy, literally, when I first started working for him, was 19th in the world and he had a white golf bag,\u201c Scott said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know him that well, and I asked him. I was like, \u2018why don\u2019t you have sponsors\u2019? And he\u2019s like, \u2018well, because I just want to play with the equipment that I want to play\u2019. And I was like, \u2018okay\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then I remember whenever all the LIV stuff was going on, you know, he was number one in the world at the time, I didn\u2019t know, but I said, \u2018they\u2019re probably going to offer you like $250 million to go over there\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he said, \u2018I don\u2019t care what they offer me. They can offer me a billion dollars. I\u2019m going to play where the best players are because I just want to beat people\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like, \u2018wow, this guy\u2019s just different\u2019, you know. So, the $10 million (Tour Championship prize) doesn\u2019t matter to that guy, and you know, if we were in the pool playing volleyball, he would want to beat you just as bad as he wants to beat you at the FedEx Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, that\u2019s the essence of who Scottie is and that\u2019s what he loves. So I think partially part of his superpower is that the money doesn\u2019t distract him.\u201c<\/p>\n

What Scottie Scheffler said about his competitive edge<\/p>\n

Scheffler\u2019s hunger and drive to win, and beat whichever player he is up against, clearly gives him an edge on his opponents.<\/p>\n

And the world number one believes that his fierce competitiveness is one of the things that makes him a great player.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, I was a young kid, I feel like one thing I struggled with growing up was just being so into the competition, and I felt like I just had to perform, and I was so highly competitive,\u201c Scheffler said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t feel like I had the maturity that I do now, and so, I mean, my temper, when I was young, was pretty extraordinary.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it is something I\u2019m always trying to rein in, but that\u2019s part of, I think, what makes me a great player, is having that fire, having that competitive edge.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, my parents were always trying to get me to do things the right way, and that was really important for me, because from a young age, I took myself much too seriously.\u201c<\/p>\n
