Collin Morikawa<\/a> is in contention to win the Tour Championship this weekend. <\/p>\n

Morikawa heads into the final two rounds just one stroke adrift of the leaders, Ryan Gerard and Viktor Hovland<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The 29-year-old has actually enjoyed a really solid season on the PGA Tour in 2026, despite suffering from a persistent back problem.<\/p>\n

And it seems like Collin Morikawa<\/a> has Kevin Kisner<\/a> and Tiger Woods<\/a> to thank for his vastly improved putting.<\/p>\n

Morikawa has been suffering with his back issue all season long<\/a>, and his driving has been below his usual standards as a result.<\/p>\n

However, the two-time major winner\u2019s putting has drastically improved recently.<\/p>\n

Morikawa is ranked second in strokes gained putting this week at the Tour Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And he was asked what he has changed recently in that department.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m telling you, I had a great talk at TGL with Tiger, Kis \u2014 I probably should give most of the credit to Kis. I don\u2019t want to, but he deserves it \u2014 and Max. It just stuck with me. It was very simple,\u201c he replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI parted ways with Stephen Sweeney earlier this year, and I felt like I got a lot of knowledge of what I need to do, but I just needed to find something that stuck week in and week out. <\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I kind of found something. You just watch my warmup, it\u2019s very, very simple, I\u2019m not doing much, but I\u2019m kind of incorporating things here and there that I\u2019ve learned throughout the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very, very simple right now. I\u2019m trusting my stroke. The putter feels great. It\u2019s nice when you feel like you can start them on line and you\u2019re seeing the lines. Hopefully I can continue that the next two.\u201c<\/p>\n

Collin Morikawa says what he must improve to win the Tour Championship<\/p>\n

The two-time major champion was asked about the state of his game after his second round at East Lake on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe putting feels great, which is good considering it\u2019s different surfaces from last week to this week. That was kind of a big focus of mine,\u201c Morikawa replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just have to find a few more fairways. The cut\u2019s not quite cutting, and it really hasn\u2019t been off the tee as much. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you can play out of the fairways on this golf course, you can score, and you can have some good wedge shots where it kind of stops on a dime.<\/p>\n
