The Texas Longhorns<\/a> are putting on a show on the 40 Acres. <\/p>\n

From the women’s soccer team dominating the start of its season, the volleyball team getting ready for its home opener, and the football program just days away from kicking things off at DKR, the Horns are quite literally everywhere.<\/p>\n

However, the most noteworthy performances by beloved Texas athletes may actually be happening at the next level, and far from home.<\/p>\n

Scottie Scheffler joins Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy with multiple Tour Championships<\/p>\n

Former Texas golfer Scottie Scheffler has been making headlines for a long time, winning five majors and laying claim to the No. 1 ranking for 172 consecutive weeks since joining the PGA Tour.<\/p>\n

Most notably this season, beyond maintaining his status as the top dog on tour, Scheffler brought home his second Tour Championship, joining two all-time greats in accomplishing the feat multiple times.<\/p>\n

With his win at the 2026 FedEx Cup, Scheffler became the fourth-ever golfer to win multiple Tour Championships, and just the third to ever do so with the FedEx Cup victory. He joined none other than Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as the only players to win multiple FedEx Cups.<\/p>\n

Not to mention that with his victory, he not only joined the elite group of golfers, but he also usurped Woods for the most career earnings on the PGA Tour. With the $10-milion prize money, Scheffler’s career earnings reached $130,390,661. Tigers’ career earnings capped off at $120,999,166.<\/p>\n

Sebastian Gorzny captures the world’s attention at US Open<\/p>\n

Turning our attention from a U.S. Open-playing Longhorn Legend (golf) to a US Open-playing Longhorn (tennis), former Texas men’s tennis star Sebastian Gorzny has captured the hearts of anyone and everyone who has seen him in action in New York.<\/p>\n

Gorzny stunned the tennis world when he earned a first-round victory<\/a> over Belgium’s Raphael Collignon at the US Open, saving five match points to do so.<\/p>\n

The win propelled him into the second round of the Grand Slam tournament, where he would face No. 7-seed Daniil Medvedev.<\/p>\n

No matter the result of the second-round pairing, Gorzny announced himself on the ATP Tour in resounding fashion, and would take home minimum prize money totaling $190,000. Not a bad way to start his professinal career, if you ask us.<\/p>\n

While Scheffler may be dominating at the next level, the Texas women’s golf team continues to excel at the collegiate level.<\/p>\n

In the Golf Channel’s preseason All-American roster and preseason ranking, the Horns had four stars featured: first-team member Farah O’Keefe (an Austin native who went to L.C. Anderson High School, my own alma mater), second-team member Lauren Kim, third-team and first-team all-freshman member Charlotte Naughton, and honorable mention member Isla McDonald-O’Brien.<\/p>\n

The Golf Channel ranked Texas as the No. 3 team in the country, only trailing the Stanford Cardinal and USC Trojans.<\/p>\n

While the Horns also finished last season ranked No. 3, O’Keefe won the NCAA Individual title and is clearly prepared to work more of the same magic this season.<\/p>\n

The NFL released its preseason list of the top 100 players in the league, ahead of the 2026 season kicking off.<\/p>\n

None other than beloved Texas running back Bijan Robinson landed at No. 3 in the ranking, with the No. 1 and No. 2 players still yet to be revealed.<\/p>\n

Of course, earlier this offseason, the Atlanta Falcons put their money where their mouth was and signed Robinson to a record-setting contract extension, bringing his annual salary up to a whopping $22.25 million base. So, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that he earned one of the top spots in the ranking.<\/p>\n

What may come as a slight surprise is the fact that Robinson was the only former Longhorn to make the list, with the other 99 spots (or 97, for now) going to players from across the country, seven of those spots going to former Alabama Crimson Tide players.<\/p>\n
