Jackson Koivun was named as one of Brandt Snedeker\u2019s six Presidents Cup captain\u2019s picks earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Koivun, who won the 3M Open in July, ranked 48th on the Presidents Cup points list and he is the world number 66.<\/p>\n

So, selecting the 21-year-old for the showdown with the International Team at Medinah was a bold move from Snedeker.<\/p>\n

However, the fact that Jackson Koivun<\/a> won in what was only his third start as a professional proves that he belongs at the very highest level of the game.<\/p>\n

How the youngster performs at the Presidents Cup<\/a> later this month will give us all an indication of just how comfortable he is when playing in a seriously high-pressure environment.<\/p>\n

Koivun was always confident in his chances of making the Presidents Cup team<\/a> and now he will be very keen to deliver at Medinah.<\/p>\n

Trey Wingo was speaking on his YouTube channel<\/a> about Koivun making the Presidents Cup team.<\/p>\n

It was put to Wingo that the United States should use the Presidents Cup to give young golfers experience ahead of future Ryder Cups.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you could make a very compelling argument that\u2019s why Jackson Koivun is on this team, for that specific reason,\u201c Wingo replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he was, if he was going to be making his debut on an international team event in the Ryder Cup, in an away match, it might be very different had he not had the experience of playing a Presidents Cup on U.S. soil, and understanding that event.\u201c<\/p>\n

Koivun obviously made the Presidents Cup team on merit.<\/p>\n

However, the opportunity for the 21-year-old to gain some invaluable experience ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup in Ireland was surely also a factor in Snedeker\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n

How Jackson Koivun discovered he\u2019d been selected for the Presidents Cup<\/p>\n

Koivun revealed how he found out<\/a> he would be part of Team USA at Medinah.<\/p>\n

\u201cSneds called me the day before it was announced, and he sent me a text,\u201d the 21-year-old said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t have his number, and I didn\u2019t know who it was because he didn\u2019t say it was Sneds for two minutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen he called me. I was like, \u2018What\u2019s up?\u2019 He goes, \u2018Well, you\u2019re going to Medinah,\u2019 off the rip, and I was like, \u2018Okay, let\u2019s go.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI was pretty shocked. I probably could\u2019ve given him a little more excitement, but I was just like a deer in headlights when he told me that.\u201d<\/p>\n
