{"id":62506,"date":"2026-09-07T15:39:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T15:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/62506\/"},"modified":"2026-09-07T15:39:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T15:39:09","slug":"gators-deal-xrp-logo-to-be-on-florida-field-for-5m-a-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/62506\/","title":{"rendered":"Gators deal: XRP logo to be on Florida Field for $5M a year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GAINESVILLE \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2016\/06\/09\/uf-to-name-football-field-after-steve-spurrier\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Spurrier-Florida Field<\/a> will prominently feature the cryptocurrency XRP beginning Saturday night against Florida Atlantic after UF\u2019s athletic department signed a multi-deal with Ripple to display the logo on the Gators\u2019 playing surface.<\/p>\n<p>Ripple is a leading provider of blockchain solutions across traditional and digital finance.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the agreement, the XRP logo appear on each 25-yard line when Jon Sumrall\u2019s Gators open the 2026 season against FAU.<\/p>\n<p>The deal will be worth $5 million annually, among the largest in college sports, according to a source.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFlorida has a long history of embracing innovation and technology to enhance the experience of our fans and advance our programs,\u201d athletic director Scott Stricklin said in a statement. \u201cRipple has established itself as an innovative leader in financial technology, and we\u2019re excited to welcome XRP to Gator Nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last season, Geico Insurance paid $1 million to advertise each of the Gators\u2019 final two home games, against Tennessee and Florida State, after UF took advantage of an NCAA ruling permitting field logos.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate advertisements are ubiquitous at stadiums across the nation, but logos provide a lucrative revenue stream to help athletic departments address escalating costs.<\/p>\n<p>A 2024 NCAA ruling permitted schools to seek sponsorships for field logos and jersey patches ahead of pending revenue sharing with athletes. The House v.
