Perhaps the most dominant brand in any equipment category in golf is True Temper with its iron shafts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Not only did the company\u2019s Dynamic Gold iron shaft once again led the PGA Tour in victories in 2026 with 16, but the company\u2019s Project X brand came in second with seven wins. A third sub-brand, AeroTech SteelFiber, also notched a W this season.<\/p>\n

When you throw in wedge shafts (which the ranking below does not), all but one winner this past Tour season carried at least one True Temper shaft in his bag. <\/p>\n

With that context, the following list of the winningest iron shafts<\/a> of the 2026 FedEx Cup season (American Express to Tour Championship) will not surprise you.<\/p>\n

The winningest iron shafts during the 2026 FedEx Cup seasonNo. 1: True Temper Dynamic Gold (16 victories)<\/p>\n

The DG is known as the \u201cGold Standard\u201d as it\u2019s been one of the top (or the top) iron shafts on the PGA Tour virtually since its introduction in the 1980s.<\/p>\n

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler uses the X100<\/a> as do Collin Morikawa, J.J. Spaun, Ryan Fox and Michael Thorbjornsen, who each won once this season. Russell Henley also used the X100 in his mid- and short-irons before creating a unique combo with the AMT White in his long irons.<\/p>\n

Cameron Young and Wyndham Clark<\/a> combined for five wins with the stouter X7 flex.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Bud Cauley and Aaron Rai both used the standard S300 version. In addition to being stiff as opposed to the Extra Stiff options, they also were not the Tour Issue like the other winners. Dynamic Gold Tour Issue shafts are sorted to a tighter weight tolerance and are almost always preferred on the PGA Tour.<\/p>\n

Case in point: Rory McIlroy is one of the only players using the 7.0 flex of the Project X in his irons, essentially the equivalent of the Dynamic Gold X7 in the Project X profile. Other PX winners this season were Jacob Bridgeman, J.T. Poston, Tom Kim, Stefano Mazzoli (short irons only), Jackson Koivun and Michael Brennan.<\/p>\n

All of those players except Tom Kim used the 6.5 flex, generally considered X-Stiff. Kim played the softer 6.0 in his irons.<\/p>\n

The Ping CFS (Control, Feel, Stability) is probably the most unlikely addition to this list. It was a stock shaft that Ping made for its own irons in the mid-2010s. <\/p>\n

Matt Fitzpatrick loves the shaft and re-inserted them in his irons a while back after using them for wins in 2022 and 2023, then won three times this past season with them.<\/p>\n

No. 5: Nippon N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour (2 victories)<\/p>\n

This is an interesting one. Nippon\u2019s Modus Tour 120, 125 and 130 have been gaining traction in recent years, and Nico Echavarria won the Cognizant Classic with both the Modus 120 and the 125 in his irons.<\/p>\n

Stefano Mazzoli also won with a combo of the Modus profile<\/a> in his irons, using the 120 in the long irons and then moving to the Project X in his 6-iron down.<\/p>\n
