The two new irons join the existing 3DP Tour set, creating a three-model family designed to serve players from tour professionals through to high-handicap recreational golfers.<\/p>\n<p>The new irons use metal additive manufacturing to deliver player-focused shaping, forged-like feel, and enhanced forgiveness through internal structures that are not possible with conventional forging or casting techniques.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"666\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/golf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1024x666.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-247835 lazyload\" data-  \/>Cobra\u2019s 3DP models. Image via Cobra Golf.<\/p>\n<p>Extending metal 3D printing across iron categories<\/p>\n<p>The 3DP iron family was first introduced with the 3DP Tour irons, which combined a blade-like appearance with game-improvement forgiveness and were later adopted in competition by Max Homa. With the addition of the MB and X models, Cobra says it can now offer a 3D printed iron suitable for the vast majority of golfers.<\/p>\n<p>Both new models are produced using direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) in 316L stainless steel. Each iron is printed as a one-piece component featuring an internal lattice structure. According to Cobra, the lattice enables precise control of mass distribution, acoustic tuning, and structural stiffness, while eliminating the need for bonded face inserts or multi-part assemblies.<\/p>\n<p>3DP MB: a printed muscle-back blade<\/p>\n<p>The 3DP MB is positioned as a muscle-back blade iron that blends traditional player-preferred aesthetics with increased playability. The design is based on a prototype MB clubhead developed for Homa and features a thinner topline and slightly increased offset compared with Cobra\u2019s KING MB irons.<\/p>\n<p>Internally, the clubhead incorporates a lattice core and strategically placed tungsten weights in the heel and toe. Cobra says this configuration raises the moment of inertia while lowering the center of gravity, making the 3DP MB more forgiving than conventional blades and accessible to golfers with handicaps of around 10.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3DP X targets game-improvement performanceAt the opposite end of the spectrum, the 3DP X irons are aimed at golfers seeking super game-improvement performance and higher launch characteristics. Comparable in size to Cobra\u2019s KING TEC X irons, the 3DP X is claimed to exceed the forgiveness levels of the company\u2019s DS-ADAPT MAX irons.<\/p>\n<p>Like the MB, the X model uses a fully 3D printed, one-piece stainless steel construction with an internal lattice structure. Tungsten weighting in the toe and hosel increases stability on off-center hits. Rather than relying on a thin face insert, the lattice supports the face internally, enabling distance and forgiveness without compromising feel, according to the company.<\/p>\n<p>Additive manufacturing as a production strategy<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to offer these two new innovative iron models that build on the tremendous success of our 3DP Tour irons,\u201d said Ryan Roach, Director of Innovation at Cobra Puma Golf. \u201cWith the addition of the MB and X, we now have a 3D printed model that can fit the vast majority of players.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cobra\u2019s leadership frames the launch as a broader statement on additive manufacturing\u2019s readiness for high-performance consumer products. \u201cThe fact that we are the first OEM to offer a full range of 3D printed irons that exceed the performance of comparable, traditionally made irons clearly shows our dedication to innovation,\u201d said Dan Ladd, President of Cobra Puma Golf.<\/p>\n<p>Availability and pricing<\/p>\n<p>The 3DP MB and 3DP X irons will be available for pre-sale from January 6, 2026, with retail availability starting January 9. Pricing is set at $1,980 for a six-piece set, offered in both right- and left-handed configurations. A gap wedge is available via custom order for all 3DP sets, with a 3-iron option also available for the MB model.<\/p>\n<p>Cobra\u2019s earlier move into metal 3D printed irons<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Cobra Golf introduced its <a href=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/news\/new-3d-printed-golf-irons-introduced-by-cobra-golf-236730\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">3DP Tour irons<\/a>, positioning them as the first commercially available metal 3D printed irons produced in-line by a major golf equipment OEM. Fabricated using DMLS, the new golf clubs feature a 3D printed lattice structure that reportedly reduces weight by 33%.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Cobra described <a href=\"https:\/\/3dprintingindustry.com\/news\/interview-world-first-cobra-metal-3d-printed-golf-irons-the-future-of-3d-printing-and-the-65-billion-sporting-goods-market-230548\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">metal additive manufacturing<\/a> as a production-ready technology rather than an experimental design exercise.
