Siuue Wu had the round of her life Saturday at Omni La Costa.<\/p>\n

The sophomore at Florida tied the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship<\/a> scoring record with an 8-under 64 in the second round. Wu put together a bogey-free performance to vault more than 100 spots up the leaderboard, she trails leaders Farah O’Keefe from Texas and Meja Ortengren of Stanford by two shots after Saturday.<\/p>\n

Wu is the third player to record a round of 64 at the NCAA Championship. It’s the lowest round by any female player at Omni La Costa the past three years. LSU’s Megan McChrystal carded the first 64 in NCAA Championship history during the final round in 2010 at Country Club of Landfall in North Carolina. Thirteen years later, USC’s Catherine Park did it during the second round at Grayhawk in Arizona.<\/p>\n

Wu’s round started with a birdie on the par-4 first hole. She turned in 3-under 33 but birdied Nos. 10, 11, 13, 16 and 17 en route to her record-tying 64. It’s the second-lowest round in Florida history.<\/p>\n

Her previous best round this year was a 65 in the Gators’ home tournament. Ranked 32nd in the NCAA Golf Ranking, her round was 12 strokes better than her opener Friday, when she came home in 40.<\/p>\n

Wu’s round helped keep Florida afloat in the second round.
