Forest and Villa play on Thursday night and Joe Cole fancies continuing his lucky streak
Thursday night sees more European action with the Europa League teams getting their time in the spotlight, including Feyenoord v Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest v FC Midtjylland.
Still basking in the glow of a whopping 25/1 winner on Forest’s meeting with Betis last week, Joe Cole delivered some more shrewd insights ahead of this Thursday’s games…

Villa travel to Rotterdam to face Feyenoord and there’s not much in the betting between the sides. It was good to see Emery’s side get some goals last week after their dry start to the season but this is a big game for them.
You watch Villa so far this season and wonder why it’s not clicked, especially when they’ve brought in some good players like Harvey Elliott. They did get three goals and three points at the weekend though against Fulham and that’s a decent result against a good Premier League side.
Feyenoord lost their opening game in Europe last week, away to Braga in Portugal, but they have incredible home support. I played against them in a friendly at De Kuip before and it was going off like a Champions League final!
Emery’s side will have to deal with that kind of atmosphere and it won’t be easy. That’s why I’d fancy a draw. I don’t expect many goals though, so could see it finishing 1-1, which means under 1.5 goals makes sense too.
WHEN: Thursday, October 2nd, 8pm
WHERE: City Ground, Nottingham
TV: TNT Sports 1
Match odds: Forest
Both Teams to score: Yes
Elliot Anderson to have 1+ shots on target
Forest are at home this week. They’re favourites to win, odds-on to win, and they will win in my view.
I am waiting for them to come good. I look at the teamsheet and the players they’ve got now – James McAtee, Elliot Anderson, Chris Wood’s a goalscorer – and it shows that they’ve got everything you need, it’s just not come together yet this season.
But it’s going to happen soon.
It’s their first European tie at the City Ground in almost 30 years and looks as close to a banker as you’ll find this week. Forest to win at home.
However, they have not kept a cleansheet in seven games this season, so I wouldn’t be all that surprised if the Danish visitors nick a goal for a both teams to score winner.
And Elliot Anderson is my new favourite player. He’s averaging over a shot a game including six in his last two performances. I’ll take him to have an effort on target in this game.
