Donegal had the lowest average annual earnings in Ireland in 2024, according to the latest report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

People from the county earned around €43,000, while Dublin had the highest average at nearly €66,000. When broken down by sex, the mean annual earnings by males in Donegal was €46,326, while it was €40,773 for women.

The latest figures also revealed that 30 per cent of all employments were recorded in Dublin, with a further fifteen percent in the Mid-East, which includes Kildare, Meath, Wicklow, and Louth. Over fifty percent of jobs with earnings in the top one percent were recorded among people living in Dublin.
