While Ruben Amorim was given a reprieve from the recent pressure placed on him after Manchester United’s victory over Sunderland at the weekend, there is still a sense that the Portuguese boss could be coming towards the end of his time at Old Trafford.
As much as the hierarchy at the club are keen to establish a long-term project under a single manager, Amorim has shown little indication that he is the man to lead the team on that process.
His tenure at Manchester United has been disastrous up to this point, with the team boasting one of the worst records in the Premier League since his arrival. That is unacceptable for a club of such stature, with many feeling that there is now a sense of inevitability around his exit from Old Trafford.

Carragher Gives Manchester United Stat That Makes Amorim Exit ‘Inevitable’
Jamie Carragher is not keen on calling for managers to lose their jobs. However, speaking on The Overlap, he said that one particular stat makes it seem all but ‘inevitable’ that Ruben Amorim will leave Manchester United in the near future.
It’s not a thing you do in punditry. I don’t like the word ‘sacked’, I never say ‘this manager should be sacked’, there is something about that word that’s a bit disrespectful because it’s a man’s job.
But I think saying things like ‘it feels untenable, it’s not good for both parties’, I was a little bit there (on Amorim). I do think it’s inevitable that this is going to happen before Christmas or January time.
Just look at this stat, it’s unbelievable for a Man United manager. In 50 games as Man United manager, he’s only scored two more goals than he has conceded.
While that start from Carragher is accurate in terms of all competitions, it actually looks a lot more grim when looking at Amorim’s results in the Premier League. Manchester United have actually conceded 12 more goals than they have scored during his 34 league matches in charge.
That is a damning statistic, one that sums up just how poor the team have been throughout his tenure.
Barring a miraculous turnaround over the coming weeks, it seems that the Manchester United hierarchy will have little choice but to embark on yet another managerial search in the near future.
