Princess Anne and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips were once “strongly tipped” to move into the Windsor-based home, Hello! reports. An excerpt from The Daily Telegraph in December 1975, two years after their wedding day, stated that Anne, 75, had considered the property.
The former couple – who later divorced in 1992 – shared Oak Grove House, which is located at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, as their first home together. In 1975, the late Queen Elizabeth II gifted her only daughter Gatcombe Park, which she still lives in to this day.
Prior to Kate and William’s move to Windsor in 2022, the family lived at Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace in London.
The mansion, said to be worth £16 million and dates back 328 years, and Kate and William are said to have already made planning applications to renovate the Grade II listed building.
According to reports, it was previously rented out for a huge £15,000 a month back in 2001.
