EXCLUSIVE: Rising Brit actor Solly McLeod, best known for starring in ITVX and PBS Masterpiece miniseries Tom Jones, has joined feature Anxious People, which is in production in London.
McLeod joins previously announced Angelina Jolie, Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Segel, Joanna Scanlan, Lennie James, Stephanie Allynne, Jessica Gunning and Carol Kane in Marc Forster’s feature.
Black Bear, Hope Studios, 2DUX2, and World Wide Word are behind the film scripted by David Magee. In Anxious People, “on the day before Christmas Eve, investment banker Zara begrudgingly finds herself mingling with a group of strangers at an open house. When a reluctant bank robber, Grace, inadvertently takes the group hostage, chaos and oversharing ensues, secrets are revealed, and literally nothing goes according to plan.”
The production was the first to use the newly launched Pinewood Indie Film Hub, a dedicated production facility for independent filmmakers at Pinewood Studios.
Up next, McLeod will be seen in Practical Magic 2, Warner Bros. Pictures’ sequel to the 1998 romantic fantasy starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. He will also star in Apple TV+’s For All Mankind spinoff Star City alongside Rhys Ifans and Anna Maxwell Martin, Agnes O’Casey & Alice Englert. Previous credits include The Dead Don’t Hurt, directed by Viggo Mortensen, and Last Swim, which won the Crystal Bear at Berlin in 2024.
McLeod is represented by The Artists Partnership and Creative Artists Agency.
