Meghan Markle surprised everyone when she popped up for Paris Fashion Week, with one royal watcher particularly focused on how Meghan moved versus what she wore.
Jane Barr, who writes a Substack called From Berkshire to Buckingham, noticed that Meghan is hyper aware of herself, including her facial expressions, as if they were planned in advance, which can be seen in the video Meghan shared to Instagram.
Meghan and her team spliced together clips from the trip that see the Duchess going in and out of the hotel, stopping and posing, which gave Barr pause.
Barr said Meghan gave off a “Princess Diana vibe” and could command a room — or at least an entrance or exit — but when it came to appearing natural, she missed the mark.
“My real critique (although it also amuses and amazes me) is how Meghan is so keenly self-aware in every still shot and video I’ve seen out of Paris,” Barr said.
“By that I mean every movement, every facial expression is studied and posed.”
Meghan was in Paris to support her fashion designer friend Pierpaolo Piccioli, who is now with Balencia as Creative Director, leaving Valentino.
The Duchess shared a reel on her Instagram for her fans, which came across as fun and flirty, ultimately, light-hearted, but Barr wasn’t buying it.
The royal watcher went hard, saying: “Meghan is telling us she is putting on an act, and that’s not chic.”
