A man sadly lost his life this afternoon in a shocking three-car crash in Co Kilkenny.

The horror road traffic collision took place on the N10 at Templemartin between 4pm and 4.30pm. Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of a crash involving three cars.

The driver and sole occupant of one of the cars involved in the crash, a man aged in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The local coroner has been notified.

The occupants of the other vehicles did not require immediate hospital treatment.

A full forensic collision investigation is set to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

The N10 remains closed in both directions from the junction at Exit 8 of the M9 to the Hebron Road roundabout. Local diversions will remain in place for motorists overnight.

Gardai have now issued an appeal for witnesses, particularly those who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision, to make contact with authorities.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: “Gardaí at Kilkenny Garda Station are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the N10 at Templemartin around the time of the collision to contact them. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) from that section of road during the relevant period are also asked to make it available to investigating officers.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
