The last thing Fianna Fáil needs right now is a new crisis

Embattled DAA boss Kenny Jacobs wants to remain in his role, but would demand that Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien backs him publicly and makes sweeping board changes at the airport authority – including the ousting of chair Basil Geoghegan, according to well-informed sources.

Following a high-profile falling-out between Jacobs and the board the minister has now been left with a dilemma over whether he’ll sign off on a €1m exit payout for Jacobs – which is controversial in itself – and risk leaving Dublin airport without a boss through the busy Christmas season and amid growing threats to European air travel.
