How do I claim my BT Virtual Reward Card?
The current offer with BT Full Fibre 2 is an £50 Virtual Reward Card. Unlike some automatic bill credits, you’ll need to claim this yourself. Once your broadband service is live, you must log in to the BT Reward Card claim site and submit your details.
You must claim within three months of placing your order. After your claim is processed, the card will usually be sent within 14 days. Depending on when your service was installed, the card will either be posted to your installation address or emailed to the account email address you signed up with. Once received, you must activate the card within three months.

The BT Virtual Reward Card is a prepaid Mastercard, so it can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted, both online and in a physical shop. It cannot be exchanged for cash though, and only one card will be issued per household. If you cancel your order or miss the claim deadline, you will lose it.

About BT Full Fibre 2
BT’s Full Fibre 2 comes in at £25.99 on a 24-month contract, making it one of the most affordable ways to get onto Full Fibre. With average speeds of 80Mbps, it’s a clear, albeit modest, route to step up from Standard Fibre, but without the higher price tag of BT’s faster Full Fibre tiers. For smaller households, or if you simply don’t need lightning-fast downloads, it’s a sensible place to be.
What helps sweeten the deal is the £50 virtual reward card. Claim it once you’re up and running, and it knocks a chunk off your first year’s effective cost.
You’ll also get BT’s Smart Hub 2 router as standard, support from BT’s nationwide service team, and access to extras like BT Complete Wi-Fi add-on if you want to boost your Wi-Fi coverage. BT might not be the cheapest name in broadband, but it is premium. It does deliver on reliability, coverage, and support – things that matter if you just want your life hassle-free.

Is 80Mbps fast enough for your home?
BT’s Full Fibre 2 gives you average download speeds of 80Mbsp. That’s not in the same league as most other Full Fibre packages, but for most households it’s absolutely ‘enough’. At this speed, you can comfortably run a couple of 4K streams, keep video calls smooth, play online games, and let others browse or scroll at the same time without slowdowns.
For everyday life, 80Mbps is going to be okay for smaller households. Streaming will be seamless, web pages will load instantly, and even big software updates don’t take unreasonably long compared to older broadband technologies. The upload speed of around 20Mbps is also enough to handle Zoom calls, sharing photos, and general work-from-home tasks without too much frustration.
But if you’ve got a busy household full of gamers, streamers, or multiple people downloading big files at once, you’re going to need something quicker, and if you can get Full Fibre, thankfully that’s an easy choice to make. For smaller homes though, it can absolutely hit that sweet spot: Fast, stable, and reliable, without paying too much for speed you’ll never use.

What router do you get?
When you sign up for BT Full Fibre 2, you’ll receive the Smart Hub 2 router at no extra cost. This is the standard router BT provides with all its Full Fibre packages. If you already had Full Fibre or are upgrading, this is what you’ll get; there’s no optional ‘fancier’ router option. And that may actually be considered a bit of a downside by some, since Wi-Fi 6 is kind of the standard now, with more than one notable provider now offering Wi-Fi 7!
Wi-Fi 5, 6, 7 are different in how fast your Wi-Fi speeds can be around the house. They do require compatible devices though, so there’s an argument to be made that if you don’t have a lot of speed-hungry Wi-Fi 6 and 7-compatible devices around your house, you don’t need that anyway.

The Hub 2 will generally do well in most homes. If your home is large or has thick walls, the Wi-Fi Discs system from BT (Complete Wi-Fi) can help fill those dead zones. For everyday use – streaming, video calls, gaming – the Smart Hub 2 gives you what you need without needing to upgrade to something else.
Getting BT Full Fibre 2 installed
BT also uses the Openreach network, so what happens on installation day depends on whether your home already has a Full Fibre line. If you’ve only ever had Standard Fibre before, an engineer visit is normally required. They’ll run a fibre cable into your property and connect it to the new socket inside – which can sometimes involve drilling a small hole through an external wall. If your home is already fitted for Full Fibre, things are simpler: BT can often just send you the Smart Hub 2 in the post for self-setup.
Switching is now simpler too. Under Ofcom’s One Touch Switching rules, you only need to place your order with BT, and it will handle the cancellation with your old provider. For most people the process is smooth and quick, but if you’re renting it’s best to check with your landlord in case any cabling work is needed. In most cases though, installation takes a couple of hours at most, and you’ll be online the same day.
No setup fees
BT doesn’t add any one-off costs when you take this package. The installation and the Smart Hub 2 router are both included as part of the deal, so you won’t find an activation or delivery charge sneaking onto your first bill.
It’s a small but welcome saving, especially as some other providers still add setup fees of up to £35. With BT, the price you see is the price you pay – just the monthly cost of the package, and nothing extra on top.
Why BT is one of the best providers
BT is still perhaps ‘the’ biggest name in broadband, and with that comes a level of coverage and support you won’t always find elsewhere. As the largest provider on the Openreach network, BT can offer Full Fibre to millions of homes, and its packages are backed by extras like the Stay Fast Guarantee and access to a nationwide network of Wi-Fi hotspots.
Customer service is another strong point. Ofcom’s recent reports show BT scoring well above the industry average for handling issues and keeping customers satisfied. And because it invests heavily in both its network and its kit, the Smart Hub 2 router and optional Complete Wi-Fi system are more than a match for most households, though as previously mentioned, no Wi-Fi 6 or 7 can be considered a bit of a disadvantage.
BT Full Fibre 2 is the slowest Full Fibre package BT offers, with average speeds of 80Mbps. That means it’s really only suited to smaller or lower-usage households – for example, one or two people who mostly stream, browse, and do the occasional video call. You’ll still get the benefit of Full Fibre reliability, but if your home has several people online at once, or anyone downloading large files regularly, you’ll want to look at BT’s faster packages instead.
