There are no reports of any injuries at this time.

The Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team has responded from Cork and gardai have put a cordon in place for forensic analysis.

Gardai and the Defence Forces have been contacted for comment.

Separately, on Monday night, a petrol bomb was thrown at a bungalow located nearby. One source told Limerick Live that family members were sitting on the couch watching TV at the time. No injuries have been reported.

These attacks are the latest in a series of petrol and pipe bomb attacks on cars and homes, as well as drive-by shootings, on the southside of the city this year.

They are being linked to an ongoing dispute involving rival groupings, centred around the Ballinacurra Weston area.
