A fundraiser has been set up for a grandad and dad killed in a horror three-car road crash in Kilkenny last weekend.

Father-of-five Eddie Griffin, 47, who is also a grandfather, died after the smash shortly before 4.30pm on the N10 at Templemartin on Saturday, October 11.

A GoFundMe has since been set up to help with funeral expenses.

It reads: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Eddie Griffin, who passed on 11/10/25.

“He will be very sadly missed by his sons, grandsons, brother, sister-in-law, nieces, extended family, friends and neighbours.”

A family spokesperson added: “As his family navigate this difficult time, they are doing their best to give Eddie the farewell he deserves.

“This fundraiser has been created to assist Eddie’s family in laying him to rest. We kindly are asking for your help to cover some of the funeral expenses – any contribution means the world to us.

“All funds that are raised will go directly towards funeral service costs.

“If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much to us.”

A man and woman travelling in the second car were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The occupants of the third vehicle did not require immediate hospital treatment.

In a statement, Gardaí said they “are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the N10 at Templemartin around the time of the collision to contact them”.

A spokesman added: “Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) from that section of road during the relevant period are also asked to make it available to investigating officers.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
