Pune: National Book Trust (NBT), India launched a mobile book exhibition bus titled ‘Books on Wheels’ on Thursday to promote reading culture and cultivate a love for books in society. The bus will travel to various locations across the district till Dec 21 and remain permanently stationed in Pune thereafter. Yuvraj Malik, director, NBT, said during a news conference that the third edition of Pune Book Fair would be held between Dec 13 and 21. Chandrakant Patil, the state minister for higher and technical education, who inaugurated the exhibition at Fergusson College campus on Wednesday, said, “It is not just a bus but a moving book exhibition. This initiative will inspire people to develop a love for reading and enrich the reading movement. As the bus travels across Pune city and its rural areas, it will particularly benefit schools and colleges.” Chief coordinator of Pune Book Festival, Rajesh Pande, said, “The initiative aims to strengthen the reading movement and offer a rich blend of knowledge, inspiration, and entertainment for readers, students, teachers, and parents alike.” The mobile library features over 4,000 books in Marathi, Hindi, and English, aimed at providing readers in rural and urban areas easy access to quality literature.
