Jacob Scipio, known for his role in Bad Boys for Life and the cancelled DC movie Batgirl, spoke about the project’s fate during a recent interview. The actor discussed Warner Bros.’ 2022 decision to shelve the nearly completed movie and explained how it could still be released one day.

Jacob Scipio speculates on how canceled Batgirl movie can come out

Jacob Scipio recently shared his thoughts on Warner Bros.’ cancelled Batgirl movie during an interview with The Direct at the red carpet premiere of Maintenance Required. The actor said he had watched the film and called it “a phenomenal film,” adding that he was “really sad the world never got to see it.” Scipio suggested that the movie could still be released one day, noting, “You never know. You never know.”

Warner Bros. cancelled the nearly completed Batgirl in August 2022 before its planned debut on HBO Max. The film starred Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon alongside J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Brendan Fraser as Firefly, Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne, and Scipio as mob boss Anthony Bressi. The DCEU developed Batgirl to explore Gotham’s criminal underworld before Warner Bros. shelved the project for a tax write-off.

When interviewer Russ Milheim mentioned that Warner Bros. later reinstated Coyote vs. Acme for release, Jacob Scipio expressed optimism. “It was great that they saved Coyote vs. Acme. I’m gonna have a ticket and be buying my ticket and seeing that movie myself,” he said. “So there’s always hope. Hollywood’s a funny place, and I think if enough people want it, it can happen.”

After the cancellation, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah revealed that Warner Bros. locked them out of the production servers immediately, preventing them from accessing or leaking any footage. Despite this, fan campaigns and support from other actors such as Simu Liu have kept attention on the unreleased film. While Warner Bros. has not indicated any plans to release Batgirl, Scipio maintained that if public demand rises, “it can happen.”
