Some people will receive their payments earlyStock image(Image: Getty)
Social welfare recipients should take note of a shake up to the payment schedule on the way.
The October bank holiday for Halloween falls on October 27th this year. As it’s a bank holiday, banks and post offices will be closed on that day.
This means that anyone expecting a social welfare payment on the 27th will most likely be paid early. It is expected that you will see your payment land in your account on Friday the 24th or Saturday the 25th of October.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed in the Budget earlier this month that the Christmas Bonus for long-term social welfare recipients will be paid again this year.
The bonus will benefit 1.5 million long-term social welfare recipients. It will be paid at the the usual rate of 100 per cent of the weekly payment at a cost of €370 million.
While the exact date it will be paid has yet to be confirmed, the Christmas Bonus is usually issued during the first week of December. It is likely those eligible will receive the payment during the week starting December 1.
