Keerthy Suresh 9 Kg weight loss strategy

Actress Keerthy Suresh celebrated her 33rd birthday on October 17th. In an old interview, shared on the Behindwoods Hits YouTube channel on April 24th, 2025, she opened up about her fitness journey and weight loss experience. Keerthy revealed in 2018-19, she lost approximately 8 to 9 kg by doing only cardio exercises.

How did Keerthy Suresh lose 9 kg weight?

Keerthy said that she had a naturally slim body as a child. However, she never exercised or played sports regularly at that time. She explained, “I was quite thin but if but I never had any workout. So till 18, in my entire life, I’ve not done workouts, not even sports. I used to play tennis when I was in school, but after I started acting it was work, sleep, eat, repeat… I’ll tell you now, first what I did is, I did a lot of cardio. So I did a lot of cardio and what happened is I lost a lot of muscle and I became really thin.”

What is Keerthy Suresh weight loss strategy?

She explained that when she started trying to get fit, she focused solely on cardio. This led to rapid weight loss, but also reduced muscle mass. Keerthy said, “I didn’t have a crash diet. All I did was high-protein, low-carbs, which I still do. But in spite of doing a lot of cardio, I didn’t take too much fat also… I lost a lot of weight, then I thought maybe gym is not working for me. That was my wrong notion.”

When did Keerthy start working on herself?

Keerthy further explained that at the time, she thought the gym wasn’t working for her, but later realized she was wrong. She explained that yoga had made a significant difference in her life. She started yoga during the COVID-19 pandemic and felt better both mentally and physically. Keerthy says, “During the pandemic, I started yoga and I started getting better, I felt much better. So I thought yoga is very nice and I’ll stick to yoga.”

What is the diet plan of Keerthy?

For the past two years, Keerthy has incorporated strength training into her fitness routine. She now feels healthier and more energetic than ever. She said, I thought strength training is also very important The last two years I started strength training. I’ve never done any diet till date, I’ve not done keto, I’ve not done any diet. It’s only high-protein and low-carbs, and I eat what I want. So There is nothing that I control over food… if I crave for something, I go for it because I should be able to eat anything that I want.”

What advice did Keerthy give people about fitness?

Keerthy also revealed that she’s never afraid of food. Keerthy believes that people shouldn’t restrict themselves from eating what they enjoy. If I feel like I’m craving something, I eat it. I don’t want to be afraid of something that will make me fat. I believe this is the healthiest and happiest time of my life.

Keerthy also shared her protein sources. She consumes about six to seven egg whites daily, cottage cheese, tofu, soy, and lentils. She also explained that she never takes protein shakes because she prefers to get protein naturally. I think this is the best point in my life, where I think I’m the healthiest… I take a lot of egg whites in a day, almost six to seven egg whites; I take paneer, I take tofu, soya and pulses, and honestly, I don’t take even a protein shake.”
