Plusnet is giving new customers a £145 voucher to spend at a choice of retailers when you take out one of four packages including Full Fibre 500, which costs £29.99 a month for 24 months.
The voucher is a prepaid Mastercard that you can spend online or on the high street, which you should receive within 30 days of submitting the required details after your service has been activated.
Although many Britons believe that switching broadband provider is frustrating and inconvenient, loyalty doesn’t always pay.
If you get hit with mid-contract price rises consistently, are lumbered with poor customer service or the speed of your internet just isn’t good enough, it’s worth considering a move.
This is especially true when you’re out of contract, because you shouldn’t have to pay your current provider any early termination charges to jump ship. Out-of-contract monthly prices are usually higher too, so it’s worth locking in a new deal.
Since 2024, broadband customers have been able to ‘one touch switch’ to a different network. This means you should only need to get in touch with your new provider to arrange the move, rather than having to coordinate between both of them.
This incentive ends on 29 October. Plusnet is offering the £145 voucher on the below packages.
With the voucher, it works out at roughly a £6 per month discount smoothed out over the two years, brining the cheapest package down to more like £18.99 per month.
Plusnet’s prices: Broadly in line with other major providers
Do you need speeds of 500Mbps?
It’s not the case that faster always means better, because you might end up paying for more speed than you need – and the extra horsepower will go to waste.
According to Openreach, if there’s no more than four of you in the house and you mainly use the internet for streaming, video calling and working from home, you should be fine with download speeds of 50-76Mbps.
You might need faster speeds – such as 500Mbps – if you stream higher quality video such as 4K, game or use virtual reality.
Plusnet Full Fibre 500: It’s fast but is the price fair?
At £29.99 a month for 24 months, this is a decent deal from Plusnet – and notably it’s the same price as its slower Full Fibre 300 – but there are cheaper options available.
You should also check mid-contract price rises, with Plusnet increasing increasing the price of its contracts by £4 each April. Find out more in our regular round-up of the best broadband deals.
Plusnet operates on the Openreach network, which is the UK’s largest broadband network. Other major broadband providers such as BT, EE, Sky, TalkTalk and Vodafone operate on the Openreach network.
Openreach has good availability nationwide, which means many homes should be able to take advantage of the deals below, which offer the same speeds of 500Mbps. They’re listed in alphabetical order.
BT Fibre 500: £31.99 a month for 24 months with £80 voucher*
This package goes up to £35.99 a month from 31 March 2026 and to £39.99 a month from 31 March 2027. The voucher incentive ends on 23 October.
Sky Full Fibre 500: £30 a month for 24 months with £80 voucher*
This package goes up to £34.99 a month from 31 March 2026 and to £38.99 a month from 31 March 2027. The voucher incentive ends on 22 October.
Vodafone Full Fibre 500: £28 a month for 24 months with £130 voucher*
This package goes up to £31 a month from 31 March 2026 and to £34 a month from 31 March 2027. The voucher incentive ends on 29 October.
What about providers that aren’t on Openreach?
A troupe of broadband providers operate their own networks, or on smaller networks. These are known as ‘altnets’. They don’t always have wide availability – for example they might cover a particular region – but you’ll often find cheaper deals. Some even promise no mid-contract price rises.
Here’s a selection of these deals, plus which regions they mainly cover, in alphabetical order.
Community Fibre 500Mbps: £16 a month for 24 months with £50 voucher*
Community Fibre primarily covers London. If you can get it, the provider regularly offers great deals. This package goes up to £18 a month from April 2026 and £20 a month from April 2027 and the incentive ends on 2 November.
Hyperoptic 500Mb: £25 a month for 24 months*
You can get Hyperoptic in 64 towns and cities across the UK, but its main selling point is connecting lots of properties in blocks of flats. If you live in a building like this, it’s worth seeing if you can sign up. From April 2026 it goes up to £28 a month and it goes up to £31 a month from April 2027.
YouFibre You 500 – £30.99 a month for 18 months*
YouFibre operates in a number of UK cities and towns, including Folkestone, Guildford, Liverpool and Oxford. We like the fact that YouFibre offers 18-month contracts rather than a full 24 and it also promises no mid-contract price rises.
