Who’s ready to take a trip to New Vegas? After an acclaimed first season, video game adaptation Fallout is ploughing further into its post-apocalyptic mythology in Season 2. Having established its trio of central characters – Ella Purnell’s Vault dweller Lucy, Aaron Moten’s mech-suited Maximus, and Walton Goggins’ irradiated Ghoul – last time around, the second outing will team two of them up for a trip into Sin City 2.0.

Yes, as teased at the end of Season 1, Lucy and The Ghoul are hitting the Fallout version of the yellow brick road – and it’s not just bottles of Nuka-Cola that await them in New Vegas. “At times, it’s like [they] are on this buddy road trip,” Purnell tells Empire on set of the new season. “And then other times, they’re so much at arms. They’re trying to influence each other and see who’s going to rub off on whom.” Get ready for a literal journey that will change two of our protagonists in a big way. “Is the Ghoul going to become good? Is Lucy going to become bad? Or are they going to be somewhere in the middle?” Purnell teases.

When they get there, they’ll encounter Justin Theroux’s new character Mr. House – a figure from the Ghoul’s past, back when he was a human known as Cooper Howard. Their war of words looks set to be explosive. “We have a couple of really incredible scenes that are just these big, heavyweight bouts of intellect,” Theroux promises. “It was like doing Waiting For Godot in the middle of the whole thing.” Bring on the fallout.
