MAFS UK viewers raged ‘tell her the truth!’ to a groom who has ‘checked out’ left his bride ‘blindsided’ with a shocking confession on Monday’s show.

Personal trainer Joe Wood, 31, and aesthetics practitioner Maeve Mathieson, 29, certainly had a rocky start to their marriage as they said ‘I do’ just moments after meeting.

Joe wasn’t sure about his new wife due to her partying ways, but during their honeymoon they clicked and went from strength to strength.

But this week fitness fanatic Joe started to get cold feet and shared some worries with his co-stars, on top of navigating losing his granddad in a new relationship.

The married couple had an intense argument on Sunday, with Joe asking his wife if she could really see it working on the outside, which resulted in him walking out.

On Monday’s episode the pair met up together to chat with Maeve saying: ‘All I need to know is where we’re at.’

Joe said: ‘I’m sorry for being away, but I’ve needed it.’

Maeve told him that she hasn’t been ‘kept in the loop’ with anything and wanted to know how he is feeling, because she’s been ‘pushed away’.

Joe replied: ‘There are things that are putting doubts in my head. Like, you know you go from zero to 100 pretty quick.

‘I feel like I’ve got to watch what I’ve got to say in case you f***ing just take something the wrong way or stuff like when I’ve been going for a coffee in the morning, you wouldn’t come with me.’

Maeve said: ‘F*** you, you’ve not been here.’

Talking to the camera, Joe said: ‘I really do want to have these discussions, but it’s not easy talking to Maeve about these things.

‘She does just go off on one very easily. I don’t like drama. I don’t like confrontation.’

Maeve told him: ‘You can’t blame this all on me.’

‘I’m not blaming it on you. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m right,’ Joe said.

‘I just feel like I can’t give a definitive answer on what’s going on.’

Joe told her that he wasn’t going to the dinner party because of his granddad’s funeral and she told him that if he isn’t coming back after that, he should just say.

‘I’ve got every intention of coming back,’ Joe said.

Speaking to the camera, Maeve said: ‘I don’t know. I totally get your head is all over, and you’ve got a massive thing that you need to do back at home.

‘But I feel right now that you’re taking a step back.

‘Joe means absolute world to me. Ideally, we could work through this. But right now, I don’t know if he’s thinking the same.’

Those watching at home are desperate for Joe to just be honest with his wife.

One said on X: ‘Omg Joe, please I beg TELL HER THE TRUTH #MAFSUK.’

‘To be fair Joe you’ve told everyone but Maeve all this. So it is gonna blindside her now #MarriedAtFirstSightUK #MAFSUK #MAFSUK2025.’

‘Joe needs to be upfront about how he feels about Maeve … this dragging is very upsetting #MAFSUK.’

‘I feel really bad for Maeve, Joe has clearly checked out. He should have never prematurely said I love you. I don’t think he intentionally love bombed her but instead got caught up in the moment.’

Last week Married At First Sight UK fans were convinced that they had figured out why Joe has suddenly had a change of heart about his relationship with Maeve.

On Wednesday’s (October 15) episode, the couples were split into separate groups, with husbands and wives enjoying different days out.

One group indulged in a luxury spa experience, while the others went out for cocktails, giving everyone space to open up.

But the time apart seemed to intensify the strain between Maeve and Joe, with tensions between them becoming increasingly clear.

Opening up, Joe admitted: ‘I haven’t been my full self this week. I’ve got a lot of stuff going on at home and my grandad just died, which doesn’t help at all.’

He continued: ‘Me and Maeve had this argument last night and I’ve just got huge doubts in my head.

‘I just said can you just look after yourself a bit more this week, go get your nails done, have a sun bed and just do whatever you need to do to feel good.

‘Then she just stormed off and got really angry and that just wound me up because I didn’t understand the reaction.

‘She is 0 to 100 rapid and it’s not how I deal with s*** at all, not at all and because she came at me I was absolutely fuming.’

Meanwhile, Maeve spoke candidly about her situation with Joe, prompting her co-stars to reassure her that there’s nothing to worry about.

Back at the spa, Joe explained: ‘Me and Maeve have been in this bubble and I’ve been blind about the differences we have and maybe we are not compatible but because we have been in this bubble I ignored it all and bottled it all up.

‘It’s affected me because I haven’t been able to be my full self.’

When asked if he loves Maeve, he replied: ‘I do genuinely have love for her, like I do.’

He then paused before continuing: ‘huh.. I do love her in a way but am I truly head over heels truly in love… probably not.

‘There is a massive difference and now I’m thinking is this going to work.’

Joe then decided to leave the spa, after expressing that the entire experience was becoming too much for him.

Speaking to the camera, he admitted: ‘It’s been very hard for me bottling all this up and I really feel like I can’t do it today.

‘I’m feeling very overwhelmed, exhausted and I need to leave and have some time to myself.’

Fans have now taken to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts, claiming there could be something between Joe and Sarah, who left the experiment in the previous episode.

They penned: ‘Hmm the timing of Sarah finally leaving the experiment and Joe getting into an arguement with Maeve and leaving the apartment, and now he’s left the apartment again…… Hmmmm’,

‘Is Joe with Sarah ?? #MAFSUK’,

‘Is Joe going to find Sarah #MAFSUK’,

‘I wonder if Sarah got Joe’s number before she left?’,

‘They better not be setting up Sarah returning and her and Joe hooking up because i will RIOT #MAFSUK.’

And fans can expect some awkward encounters on Tuesday’s episode.

Joe doesn’t appear in front of the experts with Maeve, which leaves her answering to Paul Brunson, Mel Schilling, and Charlene Douglas by herself.

‘Sometimes I think he’s not being completely honest with what he wants to say,’ Maeve tells Mel.

She adds: ‘Something is not right…’

Mel says: ‘I wonder if it would be helpful to fill in some of those gaps by opening up to the group.’

And Ashley instantly feels awkward because he has had a previous conversation with Joe about how he feels.

He tells the camera: ‘I’m in an awful position at the moment, watching Maeve and how much she’s struggling with it.
