A major review showing how different antidepressants can vary widely in how they physically affect the body, including increasing weight and heart rate, will allow doctors in Ireland to better tailor their prescriptions based on patients’ risk factors, Irish psychiatrists have said.

In a review, published today in the Lancet, found that some of these medicines are linked to weight gain in nearly half of patients while others are associated with weight loss in over 50pc.
