Almost 100 people gathered at the beautiful Chapel Farm Estate in the Swan Valley on Tuesday night to celebrate the release of Rachael Johns’ latest novel, The Lucky Sisters.
Local writer Anthea Hodgson had the crowd laughing as she introduced Johns, while staff from Dymocks Hay Street were on hand to sell books as readers queued to have copies signed.
Johns, known for writing The Patterson Girls, spoke about the inspiration behind The Lucky Sisters and how her stories always begin with character.
The audience was captivated as she shared insights into her writing process and the personal challenges of creating her most ambitious book yet. Holding the launch at Chapel Farm, which features in a chapter of the novel, made the evening especially fitting.
Fellow authors Tamara Moss, Deb Jordan, Holly Craig and debut novelist Jacinta Peachey were among those attending, with one guest telling Johns she had returned to reading thanks to her books – a moment the author said was the highlight of her night.
