Norwich City continued their dreadful start to the Championship season, losing 1-0 against Derby County at Pride Park last night.

That result left the club languishing in the relegation zone, having taken just eight points from their opening eight fixtures. In fact, their last win in the league came all way back in August.

Considering the club had promotion aspirations coming into the campaign, that run of form has led to quite a bit of criticism from supporters. That is something that led to a bizarre response from Ireland defender Shane Duffy in the aftermath of last night’s fixture.

Shane Duffy Under Fire For Bizarre Social Media Attack On Norwich City Fan

After the loss to Derby County, Norwich City manager suggested that this season was always going to be a difficult one for the club due to the players that left during the summer.

Those words have not gone down well among the supporters. When one particular fan criticised Manning for his comments, he would be subjected to a rather odd set of insults from Shane Duffy on social media.

Those were not the only posts from the Irishman.

Duffy would reply to a number of users on X, with all of the posts having since been deleted.

A strange one.

Unsurprisingly, this behaviour from Shane Duffy has resulted in quite a bit of criticism.

The player would later apologise for the remarks.

Duffy took to X on Wednesday afternoon, saying the comments came out of ‘frustration’.

Shane Duffy has yet to play a single minute of football this season. In fact, he has made the matchday squad on only one occasion, although he has been unavailable in recent weeks due to injury.

While it has been suggested that the defender is close to a return to full fitness, this outburst is unlikely to do his chances of returning to the team any favours.
