ORLANDO, Fla. — There’s a new virtual reality experience in Orlando “unlike anything” Central Florida has seen.
Here are five things to know about it.
1. Sandbox VR is touted as the best of its kind anywhere in the world. Sandbox is a futuristic VR (virtual reality) experience where you can see and physically interact with everyone inside, just like the real world.
2. Matthew Craig is the general manager of Sandbox VR at Pointe Orlando.
“It’s something that most people have not experienced before,” he said.
Inspired by Star Trek’s Holodeck, these worlds let players feel like they are living inside a game or movie, and are built by EA, Sony, and Ubisoft veterans.
3. Guests are armed with VR weapons, headsets, and sensors as they are immersed within a far-out experience – battling zombies, aliens – you name it.
“Your vest is a haptics vest,” Craig said. “So that means when something hits you, you’ll actually feel where it’s hitting you on your body.”
4. Sandbox VR is now rolling out an experience based on the wildly popular Netflix series, Stranger Things: Catalyst. It allows fans to step inside an all-new immersive chapter that puts them at the heart of Hawkins’ darkest secrets.
5. Sandbox VR is located at 9101 International Drive at Pointe Orlando. It’s open daily at 11 a.m.
