Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez hype the finality of Fast X: Part 2, teasing what to expect in the concluding installment of the action franchise. The upcoming Fast X: Part 2 will be the last movie in the Fast & Furious franchise featuring Dom Toretto and his family. The movie is currently in development, with no filming date confirmed.
The final movie in the series is expected to follow up on Fast X’s cliffhanger ending, which saw almost everyone in Dom’s family facing imminent peril. However, production for the sequel has been somewhat rocky. While the film is reportedly in pre-production, it’s unclear when filming will start and how many characters from the franchise will be coming back.
However, in an Instagram video from Diesel, he and co-star Rodriguez tease how Fast X: Part 2 will properly end the series. Speaking about the purpose of the final movie, Rodriguez explained how it was “to bring it back to the integrity that we started with,” echoing previous sentiments that the film will honor the action franchise’s origins.

The production of Fast X: Part 2 has seen plenty of ups and downs. The final installment was originally meant to be released in 2025, before production delays due to the 2023 Hollywood writers and actors strikes. The film has been delayed multiple times since, with the latest claim from Diesel being that the movie will arrive in April 2027.
However, it’s unclear if the full cast of Fast X will be returning. A report earlier this month claimed Universal is looking to trim the final installment’s budget down to $200 million, which could result in some character absences. Despite these difficulties, though, Diesel has remained optimistic about how the final installment will play out.
Based on his video and Rodriguez’s statement, the core pair of the Fast & Furious franchise remain hopeful that the final installment will deliver a fitting end to the series. Rodriguez in particular seems confident the upcoming movie will bring everything full circle, becoming a satisfying installment that fittingly finishes the family’s overarching storyline.
While it’s unclear what the story of Fast X: Part 2 is going to involve, it sounds like the lead actors are confident in how it’ll develop. Even without a definitive release date nor production schedule revealed to the public, it seems the film is going to be a faithful finale that provides closure to decades of storytelling.
