A meeting to discuss deer management in the region is being held at the market house in Blacklion this evening.
The meeting, which is being held by the ICSA, kicks off at 8pm.
The General secretary of the ICSA, Hugh Farrell is calling on members of the public to attend the meeting, to discuss the issue of deer management in the Cavan and Leitrim area.
He believes that the deer population in the area needs to be reduced for a number of reasons.
Mr. Farrell said: “Between accidents, crashes, farming, diseases, it’s at a point where we can look at a reduction in deer numbers.
“There was a management group, but the numbers are increasing whatever they do.
“We want to be able to work with farmers, they’re prepared to work with them on the ground, so farmers who have issues with deer need to come forward to the meeting,” he added.
