Heartbroken staff of Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny have paid tribute to a cherished teacher, colleague and friend, Mr. Seamus Quinn, following his sudden passing this week at the age of 63.

Mr Quinn, who was reported missing since Tuesday, was sadly confirmed deceased today.

A native of Derry, Seamus, a beloved father of five, taught Spanish at Loreto Letterkenny.

He has been remembered as a passionate teacher who brought fun to both the staffroom and the classroom.

A tribute from the school said: “Many students and staff will have fond memories of him throughout the years, including his playing music in the classroom, his participation in the staff/student soccer games and his memorable outfits for Halloween. He was also the highlight of annual Christmas carol service with his unforgettable rendition of The Little Drummer Boy.

“Seamus was an exceptional teacher and a really supportive colleague to all. He was a man who had time for everyone and will be dearly missed. He leaves behind a legacy of academic excellence and kindness.”

The school community shared its condolences to Mr Quinn’s wife Jacqueline and their children Seamus, Mícheál, Cáitlín, Roisín and Diarmuid.
