As Prime Video prepares to return to the post-nuclear dystopia of Fallout, two major characters bonded over the desert wasteland.

Ella Purnell, who plays Lucy MacLean in the series adaptation of the video game, recently teased how her character grows closer to The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) in Season 2, which premieres Dec. 17 on the streaming platform.

“At times, it’s like [they] are on this buddy road trip,” she explained to Comic Book Resources. “And then other times, they’re so much at arms.

“They’re trying to influence each other and see who’s going to rub off on whom,” added Purnell. “Is the Ghoul going to become good? Is Lucy going to become bad? Or are they going to be somewhere in the middle?”

With Justin Theroux joining the Season 2 cast as Mr. House, an important figure from The Ghoul’s past, Purnell teased “a couple of really incredible scenes that are just these big, heavyweight bouts of intellect. It was like doing Waiting for Godot in the middle of the whole thing.”

From creators Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Season 2 of Fallout sees Lucy and The Ghoul set off for New Vegas in search of her father Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan), who was revealed in the Season 1 finale to be a former Vault-Tec employee who was cryogenically frozen for hundreds of years.
