Coronation Street spoilers follow for the latest episode to air on ITV1 and stream on ITVX. This article also contains mention of suicide that some readers might find distressing.
Coronation Street’s Bernie Winter has implemented another one of her hair-brained schemes in tonight’s episode. But, unfortunately, it’s backfired (once again) and left her wider family devastated. In tonight’s episode, Bernie and Gemma invited Naomi to The Bistro under a false pretence, with the plan of winding her up and getting her to violently lash out while secretly filming her.
They called her there under claiming she’d be meeting someone famous, only to then cancel the meeting. Gemma then went over to be annoying as possible, while Bernie got her phone out.

Toyah Batterbsy noticed what Bernie was doing and called Dev to come sort things out, but before he could get there, things kicked off.
Gemma called Naomi a “scumbag in a suit”, which caused Naomi to threaten to “punch [her] lights out”.

Sure enough, she quickly made good on that promise and started attacking. Although Kit Connor managed to break things up before any real damage was done.
Naomi made out that Bernie, Gemma and Dev were “stalking”, while Kit said he was taking all of them to the station. Before he carted them off, Dev stopped and said there was something he needed to tell everyone watching.
The soap didn’t show the scene at first, but Nina Lucas went to Asha Alahan’s and showed what had been doing the rounds online. Dev told Naomi how she abused Asha, the daughter of Bernie’s husband Dev, and how that caused Asha to try and take her own life.

Asha has been hugely struggling with her mental health since starting as a paramedic — especially after a patient named Naomi hurled vile racist abuse at her.
Asha was left mortified and speechless, and Dev didn’t help matters when he bumped into her in the street and tried to play it off like he hadn’t done anything wrong since he didn’t post the video online.
“That’s twice now, Dad. Twice you’ve betrayed my trust,” she said. “You’re not listening. I don’t want you to try, I want you to stop.”
Kit and Bernie later came to the house and revealed that Naomi had been charged with ABH, but while the married couple were delighted by the news, Asha wasn’t.

She later came downstairs with her stuff in a holdall and told them she was moving out.
“There’s a video online of my dad saying I attempted suicide. How on Earth is that making that better?” she said. “This just shows that neither of you can emotionally handle. Just doing what you think’s best is more important. This is something that’s happening to me.
“If you’re not strong enough to do that, I can’t be around you right now.”
After Asha left, Dev told Bernie he needed her to be somewhere else as he couldn’t deal with her being around at the moment.
“Just for the night?” she asked, to no response.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
