Gardaí in Tralee have confirmed that they have identified the woman, whose body was discovered in the water, along the Canal on Wednesday afternoon, October 22.
Gardaí had sought the public’s help in identifying the female after the tragic discovery off the Canal walkway between Tralee and Blennerville at Lohercannon.
Issuing a description of the woman they appealed for the public to come forward with any information.
Gardaí in Tralee have confirmed that the woman has been identified and they thanked the media and the public for their assistance stating that no further action is required.
“An Garda Síochána wish to confirm that a formal identification has taken place at University Hospital Kerry of the unidentified female body that was located in the water,” they said in a statement.
“An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.”
The Coroner has been notified of the death and a report will be finalised for the Coroners Court.
