The world of Harry Potter is being reimagined, but instead of the big screen, the fantasy franchise is building a new home on HBO, with the books getting adapted for a reboot. After a decade since the final film was released, The Boy Who Lived is set to be explored for a new generation, including all of the many supporting characters in the Wizarding World.
In a new interview with AP, Arabella Stanton, who is set to portray Hermione Granger in the reboot, finally spoke about joining the series. When asked what it is like to bring that character to life for the TV adaptation, Stanton stated, “I can’t say much, because they’ve cast a Mimblewimble tongue-tying spell on me. But I’ve just started filming, and it’s great at the moment. I really hope fans enjoy it.”
The star shared how “I think when I was 8, I started reading the first one. Sort of just worked my way through them, and yeah, it was great. I’ve loved Harry Potter. I love it.” She is also set to voice Hermione in the new audiobook adaptations of Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, The Chamber of Secrets, and The Prisoner of Azkaban for Audible.
Stanton was first tapped as Hermione on May 27, 2025, alongside Dominic McLaughlin and Alastair Stout, as Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, respectively. 32,000 actors auditioned for the iconic trio before the HBO series finalized McLaughlin, Stout, and Stanton’s castings.

The Harry Potter cast will also feature John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Envisioned to run for a decade, with season 1 confirmed to consist of eight episodes.
Each season is aimed to adapt each book and cover grounds that the original Harry Potter movies weren’t able to do between 2001 and 2011. Production on the first season began on July 14, 2025, and is still taking place in England.
The Harry Potter TV show debuts on HBO in 2026, with an exact premiere date to be revealed at a later time.
