A tougher crackdown on dodgy-box users could be on the way.

Broadcasters and copyright authorities are considering plans to fine users directly for the first time.

Around 400 thousand homes use dodgy boxes to illegaly stream movies and TV content.

Adrian Weckler, the Irish Independent’s Technology Editor, says legislation may be needed.
