Cobh native Gemma Hogan spent several days on the floor of an Israeli prison, just days after fellow townsman Paddy O’Donovan
“He just assumed that I was Christian,” said Gemma Hogan as she recounted, from the calm of a park bench in the middle of her native Cobh, her experience of being interrogated by the Israeli Defence Forces.
“He was saying to me, ‘I will understand.’ And I asked, ‘Okay, so you know what, exactly?’ He asked when I’d last been to Paris, and I said, ‘A couple of years ago,’ so he said, ‘Did you see? Did you see all the hijabs?’
